Ok, I know that everyone is pushing special Valentine’s recipes these days, but I couldn’t resist them either, when I saw these beautifully decorated Rose Cupcakes. They come in all sorts of colors and you just have to pick the one you like. For Valentine’s it will most probably be red, but they could also be in other tones.
For how fancy these Rose Cupcakes look, one would think they are difficult to make. But all it takes is a piping bag or large zip lock fitted with a star – shaped decorating tip, cupcakes and frosting.
To make the frosting you will need
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
- food coloring
Beat together the butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar. Keep beating and add 1 cup of sugar in at a time, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl until all of the sugar has been incorporated. Beat in the almond extract and the food coloring.
Fill the piping bag with frosting and start applying it from the center of the cupcake.
